May’s General Meeting will be May 26, 2016 at 7 pm in room A110 at the South Campus of North Arkansas College, 1515 Pioneer Dr, Harrison, AR 72601.
At our May Meeting, we will have a guest, Lynda Daniels of Ozark Homeward Bound.
As a club we have donated to various charities and organizations over the years. Our focus is usually on local groups, although we have donated to several national causes too. For 2016, our first donation of the year was to Boone County Sheriff’s Dept for a crate for their K-9 unit. At our general meetings we have discussed a number of other local non-profit organizations that benefit dogs that we may wish to donate as voted upon by our membership .

I had recently had an occasion in which I worked with the Ozark Homeward Bound group to place a dog in distress. I was very much impressed with their attitude, professionalism and apparent success rate.
Several other members had noticed Ozark Homeward Bound’s high profile on social media and in the community. The NAKC board agreed we should invite the lead individual to come to one of our General Meetings in order for NAKC members to have the opportunity to get to know the organization and what it does. Then, we can decide if we want to provide a donation to help them with their efforts. They are a 501(c)3 organization. To date, they have placed 970 dogs (since June 2010) in homes with very few placements returned.
I initiated contact with Lynda Daniels, Administrator and asked her to please come to our next meeting to present information on her non-profit rescue. She agreed to do so.
Come to the meeting to listen to our guest and we will have time for questions and concerns. You can find them on Facebook and their Website. ~Susan
